Lawrence is the President of the Institute for a Resource-Based Economy, and co-founder of the Toronto Tool Library and Sharing Depot. Lawrence is an energetic speaker, delivering talks on 3D printing, education, and the sharing economy. Growing up in Zimbabwe, he has lived in Botswana, Canada, South Africa and Argentina. His passion lies in exploring human relationships and our shared experience, and finding the connections between us.
Ryan is the Executive Director of the Institute for a Resource-Based Economy, and co-founder of the Toronto Tool Library and Sharing Depot. He has a Bachelor of Commerce with an Honors in Accounting from McGill University. Wanting to make more of a direct contribution to society, Ryan left finance and founded IRBE in 2011. He has travelled extensively to 60+ countries and is active in many community groups around economic and environmental issues.
Kevin Morgan is the Shop Manager, overseeing the maintenance and administration of the Toronto Tool Library and Sharing Depot locations. Originally from Ottawa, Kevin earned a degree in Industrial Design from Carleton University and moved to Toronto to work in Toy design. He has worked extensively in the bicycle industry and has also been involved with the public library system. Kevin is regularly found at the East and West tool library.
Michelle is the coordinator for all youth programs and summer camps at the Toronto Tool Library. She works as the lead instructor, offering kids ages 8 – 15 a variety of skills-based training in woodworking, robotics and 3D printing. Michelle is a certified educator with Chicago Public Schools and previously she worked as an ESL teacher in South Korea for two years. When she is not working with kids, she is the Crew leader for Habitat for Humanity Toronto. She is currently finishes her Masters at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
Emily Charles Donelson
Emily (affectionately nicknamed “Em-Bot”) is our social media coordinator. She is regularly posting content on our social media channels with rich media videos and pictures. In her offline duties, she also sits on the board of IRBE. Her interest lies in the Sharing Economy and the Maker Movement as solutions for global crises, with a passion for utilizing social media to communicate these issues. A graduate from Carleton University, she received her double Honours degree in Psychology and Film Studies and is currently working towards her Masters at York University. Plus, she is the proud mother of young Scarlett.
